JANICE TRANT
CANDIDATE FOR COUNTY TREASURER

Janice Allen Trant of Piedmont filed in early December for the Grimes County Treasurer’s position on the Republican Primary ballot.  Janice is a lifelong resident of Grimes County with five generations of her family having been active in business, community, and county affairs.

Janice is a conservative and pledges as the next treasurer she will work diligently for all the people and to treat citizens and employees with respect. 

Janice’s qualifying expertise includes over 35 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, specializing in cash receipts and disbursements, tax preparation of quarterly reports, year-end reports, sales tax reports, Federal W-2s, W-3s, W-4s, 1096 and 1099s.

In the private business sector, she has calculated cattle sales for both buyers and sellers, prepared checks, invoices and received payments.  Her work experience also includes:

●   Navasota L/S Auction Co., Inc.,1968-1976
●   John H. Stoneham, CPA 1977-2007, and
●   Grimes County Auditor’s Office, 2007-present

Janice’s educational background includes:

        ●         Annual Tax Workshops, College Station 1998-present
        ●         Government Financial Officers Association Training 2008
        ●         Sam Houston State University 1970-1972
        ●         Blinn College – Associates Degree, and
        ●         1968 Graduate of Navasota High School

She has been active in the following community organizations:

        ●         Member and trustee of Zion Lutheran Church, Anderson
        ●         Member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 4006, and the daughter of an Anderson WWII Veteran
        ●         Member of Grimes County Poor Boys
        ●         Member of American Brahman Breeders Association, and
        ●         Member of Government Financial Officers Association.
