NOTICE of CONVENTIONS:
Precinct Conventions – Saturday, March 24, 2018 9:00 a.m.
In even numbered years the Grimes County Republican Party holds Precinct Conventions. These conventions provide an opportunity for every-day Republicans to propose resolutions about things that are important to them to be considered at the County Convention for inclusion as a potential plank in the TEXAS GOP platform. Precinct Conventions also elect delegates and alternates to attend and participate in the County Convention.
This year the Grimes County Republican Executive Committee has voted to hold all of the Precinct Conventions on the morning of Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. in the Courthouse in downtown Anderson. The only requirement to attend is that you are a Grimes County registered voter who voted in the 2018 Republican Primary or are willing to sign an oath of Republican affiliation.
On March 24, 2018 we will also hold our County Convention following the Precinct Conventions, at 10:30 a.m. in the Courthouse Courtroom in Anderson. This convention provides Republicans with an opportunity to propose resolutions to be sent to the State Convention for consideration as a plank in the TEXAS GOP platform. At the County Convention delegates and alternates are elected to attend and participate in the State Convention. The selection of state convention delegates is complete at the end of the county convention and can not be changed.
APPLICATION for State Convention must be submitted by the end of the Precinct Convention for consideration to Gary, Vice Chairman, in person. They may also be submitted to Gary, Party Vice-Chairman at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than March 22 to be considered. The application can be found by clicking HERE.
Every two years the Republican Party of Texas holds a State Convention. This biennial convention is where Texas Republicans create the state Texas Republican Platform and rules that will apply for the next two years. Grimes County is allotted 12 delegates and 12 alternates to the State Convention. The Texas Republican Party Convention will be in San Antonio this year, June 14-16.
At the State Convention delegates and alternates are elected to attend and participate in the National Convention in Presidential Election years which 2018 is not.
